Preparing for Your Reiki and Energy Healing Session

A Reiki and energy healing session is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and create space for rest, reflection, and greater inner balance.

People come to energy work for many different reasons. You may be feeling physically or emotionally depleted, navigating stress or change, seeking a deeper sense of grounding, or simply wanting dedicated time to reconnect with yourself.

You do not need to understand energy work, have a particular spiritual belief, or know exactly what you hope to experience.

Every session is different, and there is no right way to respond.

Simply come as you are.

Before We Begin

Set a Gentle Intention

Before your session, take a moment to consider what you would like to create space for.

Your intention might be as simple as relaxation, grounding, clarity, emotional balance, or reconnecting with yourself.

You may also be moving through something more personal, such as a transition, loss, period of stress, creative block, or feeling of being disconnected or overwhelmed.

You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal.

An intention simply gives you a place to begin.

Wear What Feels Comfortable

Reiki and energy work are typically received fully clothed, so choose comfortable clothing that allows you to relax easily.

Depending on the session, you may rest on a treatment table, sit comfortably, or experience a combination of approaches.

Before we begin, we can briefly discuss what brings you to the session, any areas you would like to focus on, and anything that may help you feel more comfortable.

Your physical and emotional boundaries are always respected. Reiki may be offered with gentle touch or with the hands positioned slightly above the body based on your preferences and consent.

Give Yourself Permission to Slow Down

You do not need to arrive calm, centered, or in a particular state of mind.

In fact, many people seek energy work precisely because life feels busy, stressful, emotionally demanding, or simply out of balance.

There is nothing you need to accomplish during the session.

Take a breath.

Allow yourself to arrive.

For this time, you can simply receive.

During Your Session

Let the Experience Be Your Own

Everyone experiences Reiki and energy work differently.

You may notice warmth, coolness, tingling, heaviness, lightness, subtle sensations, imagery, emotions, or a deep sense of relaxation.

You may also notice very little beyond feeling quiet and rested.

All of these experiences are completely valid.

There is no sensation you are supposed to feel and no particular experience you need to have for the session to be meaningful.

Rather than trying to determine whether something is working, allow yourself to notice what arises without needing to analyze it.

Allow Your Mind to Settle Naturally

You do not need to stop your thoughts or force your mind to become quiet.

Thoughts may come and go.

Memories may surface. Emotions may arise. You may drift into a deeply relaxed or meditative state. You may even fall asleep.

There is no need to control the experience.

If your mind becomes busy, simply return your attention to your breathing, your body, or the feeling of resting.

Let yourself settle in whatever way feels natural.

Your Comfort Always Comes First

Energy work should feel safe, respectful, and collaborative.

If you become uncomfortable, need to change position, prefer less or no physical contact, need a blanket, or simply want to pause, you are always encouraged to let me know.

You remain in control of your experience throughout the session.

There is no expectation that you disclose personal information, revisit difficult experiences, or push yourself beyond what feels comfortable.

The intention is to create a supportive space where you can rest, reconnect, and receive at your own pace.

After Your Session

Return Slowly

When the session ends, give yourself a moment before returning immediately to the pace of your day.

You may feel deeply relaxed, refreshed, reflective, emotional, energized, tired, or simply more settled.

There is no single response you should expect.

Take your time sitting up and orienting yourself before standing.

If possible, leave a little space afterward rather than immediately rushing into another demanding activity.

Notice Without Overanalyzing

You may continue noticing subtle shifts in how you feel after your session.

Perhaps you feel calmer, more grounded, emotionally lighter, physically relaxed, or simply more aware of yourself.

You may also notice no obvious change.

There is no need to search for signs that something happened or assign meaning to every sensation.

Instead, simply notice.

Pay attention to your body, emotions, energy, and overall sense of well being with curiosity rather than expectation.

Sometimes the most meaningful part of a session is simply having given yourself permission to stop, rest, and reconnect.

Support Yourself Afterward

After your session, listen to what your body and mind seem to need.

You may want quiet time, gentle movement, a walk outside, journaling, meditation, nourishing food, hydration, or rest.

There is no required post session ritual.

Choose what feels supportive and grounding for you.

Energy work is best understood as a complementary wellness practice. It is not a substitute for medical care, mental health treatment, medication, or other services provided by licensed healthcare professionals.

If you are experiencing physical or psychological symptoms that require evaluation or treatment, appropriate professional healthcare should remain part of your care.

Returning for Another Session

There is no universal schedule for Reiki or energy healing.

Some people enjoy occasional sessions when they feel the need to slow down and reconnect. Others incorporate energy work into an ongoing wellness or self care practice.

The frequency should reflect your individual needs, preferences, and goals.

You do not need to become dependent on sessions to feel balanced or connected.

Ideally, the experience supports something you can continue cultivating within your own life, including greater awareness, intentional rest, grounding, self compassion, and a deeper connection with yourself.

Return when the experience feels supportive and meaningful to you.

Reiki and energy healing are not about forcing change.

It is about creating space to slow down, become present, reconnect with yourself, and allow whatever rest, reflection, or renewal you may need in that moment.
